Our History
Tongues of fire ministries was birthed out of a desire to see believers in the body of Christ encouraged and strengthened in their walk with God. A few years after I had become a believer, I received a Rhema word from the Lord.
“And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you like wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”” Luke 22: 31,32
Throughout my life, I have seen this scripture coming to pass. However I firmly believe that the season of testing and sifting has happened and it is my desire to strengthen my brethren as commanded by the Lord. Over the years, Tongues of Fire ministries has been privileged to host ministries incorporating apostolic and prophetic ministers and international worship artists. The ministry also ran a series of “Restoration nights” in Carlisle to minister to and strengthen the body of Christ.
Our Vision
The vision of Tongues of Fire ministries is to see revival come to our nation through a revived church. The vision of the valley of the dry bones in Ezekiel is a picture of a place of death where there is no life. In a lot of the churches in the UK this is the case.
However when the breath of life came upon the dry bones they were transformed from death to life and became a mighty army. It is the vision of Tongues of Fire ministries to be an instrument through which the breath of the Holy Spirit brings life where there is death and decay.
Meet the Founder
David Macdonald is an on fire evangelist who has a passion to see the mandate of Isaiah 61 fulfilled in the UK. He also believes in developing an intimate friendship and walk with the Holy Spirit and seeing the body of Christ utilising all the gifts that the Holy Spirit has given to the church.
He was born in Ipswich but grew up in Thurso and moved to Edinburgh in the mid 70’s. He was brought up in a Christian family but left home at 18. He then lived a prodigal lifestyle before encountering the life changing power of the gospel at the age of 22.
He has been through trials and failures throughout his walk with the Lord, but can testify to the faithfulness of God in the midst of it all. He believes in the body of Christ working together to fulfil the mandate of Ephesians 4 v 11,12.
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ”
